Door 2 — Emirati Board (NIHS) Residency

The Emirati Board O&G residency runs through a structured program. Residency exit and board exams evaluate candidate competency through written knowledge tests and clinical assessments (OSCE/SOE). Exact station counts, timing per station, and fee schedules vary by specialty and are managed internally through the NIHS examination office. Based on the best available information:

  • Part 1 Exam: Written assessment at PGY-2.
  • Final Written Exam: 150 Single Best Answer MCQs in the final year.
  • Final Clinical Exam: Combined OSCE and SOE stations.

Candidates should confirm current administrative fees directly through their NIHS portal profile.

Dual enrollment with the Arab Board is standard. Arab Board certification provides strong regional standing and supports specialist classification across many Arab League and GCC nations, though recognition varies by country and authority — see our Arab Board page for full details.

After Certification

Emirati Board certification grants independent Specialist status across the UAE. Direct cross-border licensing reciprocity across GCC countries is not automatic — applicants must complete local verification and meet jurisdiction-specific requirements.
