Saudi Arabia offers a streamlined, single-exam licensing pathway through the Saudi Medical Licensure Examination (SMLE), administered by the Saudi Commission for Health Specialties (SCFHS). For internationally trained specialists, the SCFHS provides a separate specialist classification track via Prometric examinations or the Saudi Board residency pathway. The Kingdom is one of the largest employers of international doctors in the Gulf, and a centralized Mumaris Plus portal handles all credentialing. There is currently no routine English language examination requirement for physician licensure through SCFHS, although individual employers may have their own language requirements.
