Saudi Licensure Examination — Gastroenterology

Route Overview

Internationally trained specialists are classified by SCFHS at one of two grades — Registrar or Senior Registrar — and the grade you apply for sets the pass mark you must reach on the same paper. Classification, exam registration and licence issuance all run through Mumaris Plus.

Eligibility & Classification

Grade Pass mark
Registrar 65%
Senior Registrar 70%
Consultant Not published

SCFHS does not publish a Consultant-grade pass mark for the Classification Exams.

Credential Verification

Before SCFHS will process your application, your qualifications must be verified at source through DataFlow — your medical school, postgraduate training body and current licensing authority are contacted directly.

Begin it early. It runs in parallel with nothing else and depends on institutions outside your control responding.

SCFHS publishes no verification fee.

Saudi Fellowship — Adult Gastroenterology

Gastroenterology is trained in Saudi Arabia through the Saudi Fellowship in Adult Gastroenterology, a subspecialty programme, not a Saudi Board residency. There is no Part 1. Fellows sit a Promotion Examination in each of the first two years and a Final Written Examination at the end of training.

Stage Format
Promotion Examination Written, at least 100 MCQs
Final Written Examination One paper of 80–120 MCQs. Pass mark 70%, reducible one mark at a time to a floor of 65%
Final Clinical Four structured oral (SOE) stations of 10 minutes each

Transplant Hepatology

Liver transplant medicine has its own one-year programme, the Saudi Fellowship in Transplant Hepatology, which is open to physicians who have completed gastroenterology training. Its curriculum sets an end-of-year written examination and a structured oral examination, both set by SCFHS. No examination blueprint is published.

What we offer

A Gastroenterology question bank built to the official SCFHS blueprint, where liver disease is the largest domain at 25%, and which also serves the Saudi Fellowship Final Written Examination, with Final Clinical preparation and written and structured oral preparation for the Saudi Transplant Hepatology Fellowship.
