SCFHS — General Surgery

General Surgery specialists qualify through the SCFHS Specialist Prometric Examination — a 150-MCQ computer-based test. For Saudi Board residents, the certification pathway spans 5 years and includes a Part 1 exam in surgical foundations, a final written examination, and a final applied exam combining OSCE and Structured Oral Examination (SOE) stations.

Pathway Snapshot

Internationally trained surgeons submit their credentials through DataFlow and Mumaris Plus, then sit the Prometric-based specialist exam. Saudi Board trainees complete Part 1, a final written exam, and a final applied exam with both OSCE and oral components over a 5-year residency.

Complete Journey (Specialist Route): Medical Graduation → DataFlow Verification → Mumaris Plus → SCFHS General Surgery Specialist Exam → Specialist Classification → Practice in Saudi Arabia.

Complete Journey (Saudi Board): Medical Graduation → Saudi Board Residency (5 years) → Part 1 Exam → Final Written → Final Applied (OSCE + SOE) → SCFHS Certification → Independent Specialist Practice and future eligibility for Consultant classification according to SCFHS regulations.
