Oman for Doctors in Training

Track B — OMSB Residency Training Programs

Track B is for doctors who want to train in Oman to become specialists, not just get licensed. This pathway is realistically aimed at doctors already based in Oman, or those who can secure a sponsor willing to fund their entire training period. OMSB's eligibility list limits residency applicants to Omani physicians already working in Oman, interns finishing locally, non-Omani doctors already resident in Oman, or overseas nationals who can secure a guarantee of financial sponsorship for the full multi-year training.

Pathway Snapshot

Confirm your target specialty has openings, pass the OMSB Selection Examination, submit a full application through the Hakeem portal, pass the required interviews, and begin your residency. The academic year starts 1 September.

Complete Journey: Confirm Specialty Openings → OMSB Selection Exam → Hakeem Portal Application → Interviews → Matching → Residency Start (1 September).

Who This Track Is For

This pathway fits you if you are:

  • An Omani physician already working in Oman
  • An intern finishing locally in Oman
  • A non-Omani doctor already resident in Oman
  • An overseas national who can secure a formal guarantee of financial sponsorship for the entire training period

That last requirement is a significant barrier — someone or some institution has to formally commit to funding your full multi-year training before you are a viable applicant. If that does not describe your situation, Track A is almost certainly the pathway you want.
