MRCPI — Obstetrics & Gynaecology

Ireland & International Pathway for O&G Specialists. The Membership of the Royal College of Physicians of Ireland in Obstetrics and Gynaecology (MRCPI O&G) is an internationally benchmarked postgraduate qualification awarded by the RCPI through the Institute of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists.

It is fully recognised for specialist registration in Ireland (IMC) and full GMC registration in the UK, while also serving as a premier credential across Middle Eastern and Gulf health authorities for senior clinical roles.

Pathway Snapshot

Unlike other Royal Colleges, there is no standalone MRCPI Part 1 in Obstetrics & Gynaecology. Instead, candidates fulfil the entry requirement via an approved prerequisite exam (such as MRCOG Part 1) alongside 18 months of clinical training. The qualification itself is earned by passing two exams: the Part II Written and the Part II OSCE/Clinical.

Complete Journey: Prerequisite Qualification (e.g., MRCOG Part 1) + 18 Months Clinical Training → MRCPI O&G Part II Written → MRCPI O&G Part II OSCE/Clinical → MRCPI Diploma.
