Australia for Pharmacists — Intern pathway
Intern Written Exam & Registration Pathway
After APC knowledge assessment (usually OPRA), internationally qualified pharmacists complete intern training registered with the Pharmacy Board of Australia. The intern written examination (and an oral/practice assessment component as currently specified by APC or the Board) sits inside that supervised year. Passing intern assessments plus supervised practice leads to general registration with AHPRA — not OPRA alone.
Pathway Snapshot
Obtain a Board intern position and AHPRA intern registration, complete supervised practice hours and intern training program requirements, sit the intern written (and oral if required) assessments, then apply for general registration.
Complete Journey: OPRA / APC outcome → Intern position & AHPRA intern registration → Supervised practice + ITP → Intern written (& oral) exams → General registration.

Eligibility
You need an APC outcome that the Board accepts for the intern pathway, an approved intern training position, and intern registration with AHPRA. English standards are set by the Board. Visa conditions must allow the employment type your intern post uses.
Intern Year
Interns complete a Board-approved intern training program (ITP) with a preceptor, log supervised hours, and meet workplace competencies. Hour totals and approved sites are defined in current Board registration standards — confirm on the Pharmacy Board / AHPRA website.
Intern Written Exam
The intern written examination is a computer-based test of intern-level pharmacy practice, law, and therapeutics as specified by APC for that year. Delivery vendor, blueprint, and pass standard are published for each sitting. An oral or interactive assessment may also be required.
Exams are usually sat during the intern year after a minimum period of practice. Missing a sitting can delay general registration.
What we offer
MCIQ will open intern written and Australian registration-style practice covering Board intern outcomes, law, and therapeutics. Register to be notified when prep is available.

When intern hours, ITP sign-off, and intern exams are complete, apply for general registration as a pharmacist. Practising without the correct registration type is unlawful. Limited or provisional categories, if offered, have their own restrictions.
