Jordan Comprehensive Examination
Jordan's national medical licensing examination, administered by the Jordan Medical Council. Non-Jordanian doctors are explicitly eligible. Passing it is one step in the licensing pathway, not the licence itself.

Eligibility
Non-Jordanian applicants generally need an authenticated permanent medical degree, valid temporary equivalency, proof of internship, and a Jordan Medical Association registration letter for the exam.
The Council publishes three alternative routes:
A minimum of 11 months of internship at a JMC-approved hospital, or
6 or more years of medical study including internship, or
3 or more years of clinical practice abroad
That third route matters for experienced doctors, who may not need a Jordanian internship at all.
Attempts and Results
Up to 6 attempts. A candidate who fails all six must complete a 6-month remedial internship before reapplying — with a defined structure: rotations in surgery, obstetrics and gynaecology, internal medicine, paediatrics and emergency medicine, plus one elective month.
Registration closes 3 weeks before the examination. No candidate may enter after papers are distributed, and none may leave before 30 minutes have elapsed. Appeals: one week from the announcement of results.
Fees
| Item | Jordanian | Non-Jordanian |
|---|---|---|
| Comprehensive examination | 70 JOD | 150 JOD |
| Score certificate | 20 JOD | 40 JOD |
| Internship application | 60 JOD | 200 JOD |
| Hospital transfer during internship | 50 JOD | 100 JOD |
The score certificate is separate from the exam, and the non-Jordanian internship application fee of 200 JOD is larger than the exam itself.
