Jordanian Board — Application Support
The Route
For non-Jordanian doctors there is no separate foreign-doctor track. You enter the same Jordanian Board framework with additional documentation and separate fees.
- Have your qualification and registration documents ready, authenticated
- Obtain acceptance from an accredited Jordanian training programme
- Submit the JMC residency registration application with hospital and programme acceptance documents
- Receive JMC approval
- Begin residency
- Sit Part 1 after at least the first training year
- Complete training, sit Part 2 Written, then Part 2 OSCE
Training-centre acceptance is the bottleneck. Passing an exam does not create a residency position. This differs from Egypt, where a central announcement allocates specialties.
The Year-1 registration application must include requests from the programme director, department head, and hospital or training-centre director.
Examination Structure
| Component | Format | Duration | Pass mark |
|---|---|---|---|
| Part 1 | 100 MCQs | 2 hours | 60% |
| Part 2 Written | 100 MCQs | 2.5 hours — not separately confirmed | 60% |
| Part 2 OSCE | Clinical stations, 100 marks | Not published | 60% |
The Part 1 duration is 2 hours. The Council's own regulations state: " تتكون أسئلة الامتحان الكتابي من 100 سؤال ومدة الامتحان ساعتين " — the written exam consists of 100 questions and the duration is two hours. The regulations also require not fewer than 100 questions per paper for each specialty.
Final Part 2 result: 60% written weight plus 40% OSCE weight, and each component must independently reach 60%.
The OSCE station count is not centrally published — because the Council delegates it. The regulations state that "the specialised examination committees determine the number of cases and the weight of each."
Attempts. Part 1: no published limit. Part 2: 5 attempts, then one year of additional training, then 3 more, then one further year of additional training, then 2 more, to a maximum of 10.
Part 2 Written validity: not published. No source states it, including the Council's own examination regulations. Treat as unconfirmed.
Sittings: Twice yearly. Exact dates are announced by the Jordan Medical Council per round. Check with the regulatory body for the current schedule.
