Portfolio Pathway — Specialist Registration
The Portfolio Pathway is the GMC's route onto the Specialist Register or the GP Register for doctors who have not completed a UK training programme and therefore hold no CCT.
This is what an established specialist coming to the UK actually needs, and it is not something PLAB preparation addresses.
Route Overview
You assemble a portfolio of evidence demonstrating that your training and experience are equivalent to a UK CCT in your specialty, and the GMC assesses it against the relevant curriculum.
It is a document and evidence assessment, not an examination — there is nothing to sit and nothing to revise for.
