Kuwait — Pediatric Surgery

Specialty Licensing Pathway

The official Ministry of Health and Prometric blueprint contains standalone specialist examinations for six named specialties, and no Pediatric Surgery or General Surgery examination.

Until the pathway is confirmed by the Kuwait Ministry of Health, internationally trained Pediatric Surgery specialists should contact the Ministry directly.

Training Route

The KIMS Board of Trustees approved a Pediatric Surgery fellowship, announced on 17 September 2025 as one of 16 new training programmes starting from the 2026 academic year. Under the KIMS Admission Policy, a fellowship is a three-year subspecialty programme taken after residency board certification. The programme’s entry requirements, curriculum and examinations are not published.

The Arab Board

The Arab Board runs a six-year Pediatric Surgery programme — two years of General Surgery and four of Pediatric Surgery. Recognition is not an exam exemption — specialist classification is assessed case by case.
